Autumn term 2017 at Centre for Young Musicians Taunton starts on Saturday 9 September with free music workshops and a free concert. The Centre will be open from 9am -12noon on 9 September.
Term dates for 2017/18 can be found at this link.
Saturday 9 September will also be an Activities Day for continuing students and new students joining the Centre in September.
Please note the full timetable for the autumn term 2017 begins on Saturday 16 September 2017 at 9am.
The Open Day on 9 September is a brilliant chance for young people aged 5-18 to visit the Centre and take part in free workshops.
Free sessions may include workshops such as orchestra, band, singing, history of music, general musicianship and aural training.
Booking is essential for all workshops.
If you are unable to make it on 9 September then perhaps the next Open Day on 14 October is more convenient, or you can book a visit to the music school any time.
On 9 September there will be a concert by Ensemble Askew at 10.45am to 11.45am in the Willow Cafe at Richard Huish College, South Road, Taunton. Free admission, all welcome.
Ensemble Askew is a group of award-winning professional young musicians performing Medieval and Renaissance melodies/songs and folk styles. The group comprises Emily Askew (recorders, bagpipes, shawm, vielle, fiddle, voice), John Dipper (viola d’amore, vielle, fiddle), Jamie Roberts (voice, guitar), Louise Morgan (hand percussion and medieval bells).
It will be an exciting concert for everyone and a fun way to get the autumn term started.
