On 5 May CYMT students were entertained and educated by rising star early music ensemble Ceruleo. You can catch Ceruleo on tour in the UK with their brilliant production ‘Burying the Dead’. It’s a new theatre show with live music by author Clare Norburn on the life of the great 17th century British composer Henry Purcell (played by actor Simon Cole) at the Buxton International Festival. It’s on Tuesday 17th July 3:30pm at St John the Baptist, Buxton.

On 12 May CYMT students performed a very good soloists concert in the Willow Cafe at Richard Huish College. Here’s Ernie singing ‘Mad World’.

On 30 June CYMT students performed a fantastic Instrumental Ensembles Concert, picnic-style outside the Willow Building at Richard Huish College. Enjoy this selection of photos.

On 6 July CYMT was visited by Alice Girle (soprano) and Jingle Gawley (piano) and they gave two excellent workshops at The Castle School, Taunton.

On 7 July Alice and Jingle delivered 4 fantastic workshops at CYMT looking at vocal technique, vocal warm ups, and studying the piano composition A la Albeniz by Russian composer Rodion Shchedrin, which Jingle performed in the concert later that day.  The vocal ensembles concert started with brass group(!) followed by the CYMT vocal ensembles and Alice and Jingle’s recital. It was a wonderful end to the summer term at CYMT. Here are a few photos to enjoy.
